Travel Notes and Tips

The Tibet Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival is held every year from March 15 to April 15. This one-month period is the only time when peach blossoms cover the valleys of Nyingchi, Bomi, and surrounding areas in full bloom. For the most vibrant blossoms, late March to early April is often considered the peak season.

Yes. All foreign travelers to Tibet must obtain a Tibet Travel Permit in addition to a valid Chinese visa. Our team will arrange the Tibet Travel Permit for you in advance, so you only need to provide your passport and visa copies.

The tour starts in Lhasa at 3,658m and includes higher passes like Sejila Pass (4,702m). However, Nyingchi is only about 2,900m, which is considered one of the lowest and most comfortable areas in Tibet. Most travelers adapt well, especially since the itinerary begins with a rest day in Lhasa. To minimize altitude discomfort, avoid strenuous activities and drink plenty of water during the first days.

This 8-day journey combines nature, culture, and seasonal beauty:

  • Blossom highlights: Gala Peach Blossom Village, Bomi Peach Blossom Valley, and peach blossoms around Basum Tso Lake.
  • Natural wonders: Midui Glacier and Ranwu Lake.
  • Cultural treasures: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street.
  • Local experience: Jemay Linka, where you can try horseback riding, archery, Tibetan incense-making, and fire-side tea.

We provide comfortable hotels in Lhasa and Nyingchi, including oxygen-equipped rooms in Lhasa to ease altitude adjustment. In smaller towns such as Bomi, accommodation will be the best available local standard, clean and safe, but with more basic facilities compared to big cities.

Yes. The Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival Tour is one of the easiest and most comfortable routes in Tibet, thanks to the relatively low altitude of Nyingchi and smooth road conditions. Families with children and elderly travelers are welcome, though we recommend consulting your doctor before traveling to Tibet.

You can reach Lhasa either by domestic flight from major cities in China (such as Beijing, Chengdu, or Xi’an) or by the scenic Tibet train from cities like Xining or Chengdu. International travelers often arrive in Chengdu or Kathmandu first, then connect to Lhasa. Our team can assist with flight and train bookings if needed.

Breakfasts are served in hotels, while lunches and dinners are at local restaurants or arranged by the tour. Tibetan, Sichuan, and Chinese cuisines are common. Vegetarian meals can be arranged upon request.

Warm clothing (layers are recommended, as days can be warm but nights are cold)
Comfortable walking shoes
Sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm (the sunlight is strong on the plateau)
Personal medication for altitude or cold weather
A camera to capture the breathtaking peach blossoms and snowcapped mountains

Unlike other Tibet tours available year-round, the Tibet Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival Tour is seasonal and limited to just one month each year. It is the best way to experience Tibet’s springtime charm, when valleys are filled with peach blossoms, rivers flow clear, and snow peaks shine in the background. This combination of natural beauty and cultural immersion makes it a once-in-a-lifetime journey.
